Get outdoors!
Centre County has so much outdoor recreation to offer to residents and visitors.
Let us help you make the most of your trip to Centre County with some daily excursions that bring clean fresh air, scenic landscape, and beautiful waterways.
The following excursions are suggested. We can help you with the planning and coordination as part of your stay, and can share some of our experiences to help you plan you trip.
Spring Creek and its tributaries are home to some of the best trout fishing in the state. Although personally our experience is limited in this area, we can connect you with a local guide from American Flyfishing Companythat will work hard to put you on fish and make your visit memorable - maybe even set you up for a trophy catch!
If exploring the waterways is more your style, then maybe a trip down Spring Creek or Bald Eagle Creek in a kayak or canoe is in order. Also, nearby lakes are a great place to paddle in peace and look for birds and other wildlife. We work with Tussey Mountain Outfitters on trips and rentals, and can put together a trip for you and your party - whether you are interested in a challenging paddle or a leisurely float, TMO has got you covered!
Let us help you plan a day hike agenda that supports your interests, difficulty level, and time limit. We have not been able to hike all of the miles that exist in the surrounding area (yet!), but with the help of Purple Lizard Maps, we can make some helpful suggestions and map out an itinerary for you to use during your stay. Give us a call to discuss planing your hiking adventure!
Head Northwest from Bellefonte and you'll find yourself meandering through the lovely Quehanna Wild area, leading you to Benezette, PA. Benezette, just a little over an hour from the B&B, is the home of the Elk Country Visitor Center, and where the PA Elk Herd can be seen from various viewing areas. We can suggest some viewing areas that we have visited, along with some traveling routes where you will be likely to spot elk. Come in September to hear the male elk bugling.
Please check with Happy Valley Adventure Bureau for additional information on the countless activities available in the area!
